Award season is in full gear and yesterday marked the 68th annual Golden Globe awards! But here on There's No Place Like Fashion we aren't giving out Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture-Drama or Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture-Comedy or Musical (of which The Social Network and Annette Bening for The Kids are Alright respectively, walked away with). Rather, we are praising those celebrities that took the gold for best dressed and critizing those of whom should of spent a little more time in the mirror!
The Red Carpet was full of solid colors this year. Shades of pinks, greens and blues popped beautifully on the skin of Hollywood's A-listers. Here are a few noteworthy looks:
Emma Stone, simple yet stunning in Calvin Klein Collection, with Bulgari and Van Cleef &
Arpels jewels.
Anne Hathaway, in Armani Privé, with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels. No words need describe.
Leighton Meester, in Burberry, with Cathy Waterman jewels, a Louis Vuitton bag, and Jimmy Choo shoes. Subtle and soft Victorian glamour that need not compete against the rich hues of color on fellow attendees.
Sophisticated and figure-flattering, Eva Longoria wears Zac Posen. The long train adds an unexpected twist to the effortless little black dress.
Lea Michele, in a beautiful Oscar de la Renta design.
January Jones in Versace. Amazing color and perhaps the only orange on the red carpet, this dress is the perfect mix of flapper and old Hollywood glam.
Never one to disappoint, Angelina Jolie is gorgeous in Atelier Versace.
While many shinned, some needed a little polishing. Here are a few of the worst looks:
Helena Bonham Carter, in Vivienne Westwood. Please Ms. Carter, help me to understand! Awful hair, messy outfit and two unmatch shoes?!
Heidi Klum, in Marc Jacobs. Heidi, host of Project Runway, you think you'd know better! Not flattering!
Same goes for you, Gabourey Sidibe, in Marc Bouwer! You may be an amazing actress but honey, that print does nothing for you!
Sandra Bullock, in Jenny Packham. Salvageable but Sandra, it looks like your hair is eating your face.
What is your opinion? Let me know!
looks like strapless dresses are slowing becoming less popular...finally
ReplyDeleteSeems like the Golden Globes were a lot more conservative this year. Instead of dressing less a lot of even the most attractive actresses wore long sleeve type dresses. Sandra Bullock....that dress/hair made her look so much older sadly.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Olivia Wilde in this list?? Love your blog by the way......here is mine: http://sixechojnz.livejournal.com I have an article on the Golden Globes and mention some of the fashions. Can't wait til the SAG and Oscar awards to see who wears what!
